This course is part of the College of Christian Ministries from the University of the Nations Colleges and Centres.

(Full learning weeks)

Are you considering full time ministry? Do you need to be better equipped as a leader? The School of Ministry Development (SOMD) is for those with a desire to work in full-time ministry. The goal is to help you grow in personal character and equip you with practical skills to become more effective in ministry. This course will help you discover God’s calling on your life, while focusing on leadership development, practical ministry tools, and provide you with hands-on leadership opportunities.

You will learn valuable principles as seasoned leaders impart to you in class. Then, put those values into practice as you take on leadership roles and learn how to pass them on to others. We will help you stretch your potential and take on greater responsibilities as you lead small groups, team projects, local ministries, and corporate worship & prayer gatherings.

When you graduate from the SOMD, you’ll be better equipped for ministry whether that’s with YWAM, the local church or another ministry setting.

Clare Mulrooney
I am from Devon in England and joined YWAM in 2001, first doing a Year For God program in Central & South America (I have some fun stories from outreach in the amazon!). In 2002 I joined staff at YWAM Holmsted Manor where I worked as part of the training team working as DTS staff and BLS. In 2004, I married my husband Steve (from the US) and we went as part of a small team to pioneer YWAM York (Northern England) focusing on training pioneering leaders (SPLD). We have four kids who were all born in York and during that season we were also part of pioneering a fresh expressions church plant. We moved to the US in 2012, where along side running our own business, we served as part of a Vineyard Church, including starting a homeless compassion ministry, teaching and taking leadership roles. In 2017 we heard the Lord calling us back into full time missions so we moved to join YWAM Harpenden, where I am part of the training team as well as serving in other areas such as leading worship. My passion is to see people fall increasingly in love with Jesus, developing into the fullness of all that God has created them to be, so that God’s kingdom can be extended! I also love a good cup of assam tea, chocolate, being creative, snow sports and travelling to new places.

Dale Lambert
I am from Atlanta, Georgia and I joined YWAM in 1993 when I went to Denver, Colorado to do my DTS. My plan was to return home after DTS, go to college and become a youth pastor but God had other plans! Following my DTS, I completed a Phase II (School of Ministry Development) in Denver and joined staff. I worked in a wide variety of different areas of base life; from IT, Maintenance, Accounts and Kitchen to leading DTS’s and SOMD as well as leading various staff outreaches and DTS outreaches. I joined the leadership team at YWAM Denver and took on various leadership roles as well as being the base administrator. When we moved to England in 2008, I became the Operations Director of YWAM England and in 2013 I took on the role of co-leading YWAM Harpenden. My passion is discipling and encouraging others. I love Doctor Who, Star Wars, reading Fantasy & Sci Fi and spending time with my family.
