OPEN SEMINAR WEEKS – SCHOOL OF FRONTIER MISSIONS
School of Frontier Missions (SOFM): Equipping for Long-Term Impact The School of Frontier Missions (SOFM) at YWAM Harpenden is designed to train and equip believers for long-term ministry among the least reached. Over the course of 12 weeks (September–December), participants are immersed in practical teaching, spiritual formation, and strategic preparation for cross-cultural mission. Whether you’re called to pioneer in remote regions or disciple in urban centers, SOFM lays a foundation of faith, resilience, and Kingdom vision. To make this training more accessible, we’re transforming four of our core teaching weeks into dynamic, stand-alone seminars. These three-day intensives offer the same depth and DNA of SOFM — focused on topics like sharing the Gospel in Muslim communities, making disciples, and living a lifestyle of love, truth, and power — but in a format that fits your schedule and calling.
Check out the dates below and come be equipped, inspired, and released to go where the Gospel is least known and most needed
1. DISCIPLE MAKING MOVEMENT (DMM)
Speaker: Joel Harri
Date: 21st September to 23rd september 2025
Cost: £20 (not included room and board £30 per day)
This training goes back to scripture to look at what undergirds Disciple Making Movements (DMM), asking questions like, ‘What expectations should we have about multiplication and movements from scripture?’. Once we have something solid Biblically to stand on, the focus turns to learning principles and skills in evangelism, discipleship, and church planting that foster multiplication. There will be stories and case studies to inspire and challenge, time will be given to allow the Holy Spirit to free us from fears that paralyse and hinder us, plus we’ll dig into God’s Word to get more of God’s heart for the lost.
Joel Harri
Joel is married to Caire, who is from England, and Joel is a dual Finnish/Australian citizen. They worked in Central Asia from 1995 until 2021, doing church planting. Currently, they are in Bradford, reaching out to the Muslim community.
They have three children, two of whom are married. God is great, give him all the praise.
2. GOD’S STORY IN MISSIONS
Speakers: Andrew and Connie Tylor
Date: 10 to 14 November 2025
Cost: £20 (not included room and board £30 per day)
There is a massive opportunity here in Europe to disciple the nations. There is a mission field here on our doorstep… thousands of refugees and migrants, and many of them are from unreached people groups, living here in our inner cities. Come and take a fresh look at discipleship training in an “oral” context. In every continent, God is multiplying, not just adding, gatherings of believers in ways that are currently described as “ Discipleship Making Movements”. Come and learn how to train disciples orally, and help to start a discipleship-making movement in Europe.
In Mark 4:33-34, Jesus said, “When I teach local people, I ALWAYS use stories”. God’s story DTS is discipleship training focusing on key stories in the bible narrative and communicating them orally in order to make disciples of the Lord Jesus
