ENGLISH FOR MISSIONS (EFM)
Do you want to develop cross-cultural skills and improve your English? The English For Missions (formerly English and Cultural Orientation) course exists to do just that. The EFM course offers total immersion in the English language, while also exploring God’s heart for the many rich and diverse cultures around the world. Whether your calling is into missions or into the spheres of society, this school will help prepare you to work cross-culturally and communicate in English.
This school is open to those of every nation and language and offers beginners, elementary and intermediate English language tracks depending on your level of experience. The EFM course gives you genuine cross-cultural experience on our international campus including in worship, prayer, small groups and work duties – all in the English language.

COURSE CONTENT
In addition to developing your English skills (listening, speaking and writing) EFM includes teaching on the following topics:
- What is culture?
- Know your own culture: hot vs. cold
- The gospel and culture
- Entering another culture
- Acceptance and trust
- Social skills
- Understanding other faiths
- Cross-cultural communication: listening and being heard
- Tensions and difficulties: overcoming barriers
- Culture shock
Outreach/Field Placement
Following this course, trainees may have the opportunity to do a field-based internship with one of our partner locations in the UK.
