FAMILY ENCOUNTER WEEK
Why do we run Family Encounter Week?
We believe in God’s heart for families, His design and calling upon them to bring blessing and hope. Family life is not without its pressures and challenges and therefore our desire is to provide an opportunity to encourage and strengthen family. This event offers an opportunity for families to invest in each other; to enjoy each other and to grow together towards God. Families of all ages and sizes from babes in arms, to teens, to grandparents. All are welcome. We love to see the generations coming together and learning from each other.
What happens during Family Encounter Week?
Each day we gather together as families to enjoy a morning programme consisting of interactive bible-based teaching, fun games and authentic worship. Then there will be a chance to dig deeper into the day’s topic in age-appropriate groups. The afternoons are usually free time for you to enjoy each other as a family. You’re welcome to explore the local area and visit such places as London, Woburn Abbey or Hatfield House or you can join in with one of our optional organised activities. Some of the afternoon activities offered on previous events have included arts & crafts, den building in our woods, archery, pampering, circus skills, bouncy castle, giant bubbles, sports, water slide, family team building.
We also have an exciting outreach afternoon, where as a family you are encouraged to step out and bless others in the local community. Last year, fun was had by all those involved, as we raised the joy level in the local town by bringing free entertaining activities such as face painting, circus skills, prayer walking etc. The evenings are more relaxed with opportunity to chat with other families, Q & A time, soaking worship session, enjoyable socials etc. During the evening programme there are also groups times for the older children/teens. There is also opportunity throughout the camp to be prayed for/ ministered to as individuals, as a couple or as a family.

For those fond of the outdoors, YWAM Harpenden is great place to camp. It is a beautiful 48-acre site with its own orchard, woods and playing fields. You will have access to toilet and shower facilities, as well as a place to make hot drinks.
For those of you who prefer your home comforts, there is indoor accommodation available. This is simple, dorm -style accommodation. You will either share a room together as a family, or you will be offered two adjacent rooms for you and your children. There are shared bathroom facilities, as well as a small kitchenette for you to make drinks and a comfortable lounge area and games room. There is limited indoor accommodation available, so please book up early to avoid disappointment.
We believe coming together at dinner times are a really important time to strengthen family relationships, therefore we eat together in our large dining hall on site. Good simple, nutritious food is offered, which will hopefully appeal to those with smaller appetites as well as adults. Yummy snacks are also offered during the morning and afternoon coffee breaks.
