“If you don’t know who you are, you will be convinced you need to be someone different or be something more,” Anne Sloan told our DTS class on Monday.

“The most important thing in life is to know Jesus and believe what He says about you,” she continued to say. “Do you believe in the God who believes in you?”

Identity week was one of the most anticipated lectures we have had so far. There was much excitement as we studied who God called us to be as individuals.

Anne told us the first thing the enemy tries to destroy is our identity, which is why it is so important to know who God says you are.

Two key points stood out to me as we studied several elements such as personality types, how the brain controls emotions and thoughts and how all factors affects who we are.

The first was how fear is the basis of all insecurity. The second, you become what you focus on.

Thoughts are the beginnings to actions. Which in turn can turn into a habit, which turns into a lifestyle. It is important to control what you think about and how much you meditate on negative things.

Rebecca Heflick, from Washington State, said Identity week was one of her favorite lectures so far.

“I thought that it was a lot of fun and it was very informative, not only about my own personality and how I react with others, but about how other personalities interact with others,” Rebecca said.
